SERVICES
Individual Therapy
I work with individuals who are looking for healthier ways of being and living within their worlds. My goal is always to facilitate a space for you to explore honestly the patterns in your thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and relationships, and to try out healthier ways of being and living.
Online Therapy
Online secure video sessions are an accessible option for those who may not be able to leave home or need remote help. I use a free secure software that can be readily downloaded for the time of your appointment. Many are surprised to find this option to be an easy and effective resource for this time of need.
Creative Arts in Therapy
I believe that being creative helps to bring alive again our deepest hopes and, at times, our biggest fears. It can be so healing for people to reconnect with their instrument, their art supplies, or their words as a way of expressing themselves in the world.
I am an accredited music therapist (MTA) and enjoy using music and the arts in therapy. Have you been wishing you could explore your creativity to help you in your recovery process? Have you been exploring counselling options but are not sure that just using words is effective for you? Do you use music or other creative methods to cope with past and present challenges? I may be a great fit for you in your therapeutic journey.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Are your services covered by OHIP?Psychotherapy is not covered by OHIP unless provided by physicians or psychiatrists within the family health team. Many extended health insurance plans provide coverage for psychotherapy, and these services can be claimed on income tax filing.
-
How does insurance coverage work?Inquire with your insurance company if you are covered for Psychotherapy. If so, you may submit the receipt for services to your insurance company for reimbursement. I am also affiliated with an off-site supervising Psychologist.
-
What methods of payment do you accept?I take payment by credit card or e-transfer. An email receipt is provided upon payment.
-
Where are you located? My office is located in the quaint downtown area of Burlington. I understand it can be nerve-wracking to reach out for the first time, so my goal is to make you feel welcome and comfortable. You will find our space warm and inviting and easily accessible by car or public transit.
-
Do you have a cancellation policy?I require 24 hours notice for cancellations unless in the case of an emergency. For all counselling appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, a missed appointment fee of $50 will be charged. Please note that cancellation fees will not be covered by insurance. My online scheduling software allows you to easily cancel or reschedule an appointment at your own ease. Please contact me for access.

Is psychotherapy a regulated field? In Ontario, psychotherapy is a controlled act, regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). I am a Registered Psychotherapist member in good standing of the CRPO. Please note that "Lindsay Thalla" is my "commonly used name for practice" as required by the CRPO. My name on the Public Register is "Lindsay Fleetwood".

What is music therapy?Music therapy is the use of music, both precomposed and improvised, to address physical, emotional, cognitive or spiritual areas of life. The Canadian Association of Music Therapists provides accreditation across Canada, and I am a registered member Music Therapist Accredited (MTA) in good standing. Currently in my practice I am not able to use many instruments in session together due to space restriction, but clients are welcome to bring a guitar to session. Music may take the form of listening to songs together, creating playlists, discussing or writing lyrics.
